We have added a new review to the Lexus RX Rankings, Ratings and Comparisons page.
Zack and Andrea at Motormouth took the RX out and asked the question, “is it a better buy than the NX”?
We are test-driving the RX 450h Executive model with a 3.5L V6 engine matched to an ECVT with Lexus Hybrid Drive.
It has a combined 308 horsepower and comes standard with AWD. This Hybrid is made in Canada. This RX 450h offers an elegant exterior design with a bold spindle grille, which we expect from Lexus and sharp lines. It comes standard with a moonroof, LED headlights, LED taillights and 18” wheels, 20” are available. In Canada, the panoramic sunroof and power rear door with kick sensor are available on the Executive trim.
In the US, there are packages but also a la carte items, you can add the panoramic sunroof for $1,850 US and the power rear door with kick sensor for $150 US.
Lexus says the RX is designed with purpose. The side grilles above the fog lights are shaped for better aerodynamics and there’s a character line that runs from the front to the rear that is supposed to create an arrow-like profile and a flowing roofline to reduce drag and reduce noise in the cabin.
The RX 450h gets excellent fuel economy at 7.5L/100km, 31 MPG in the city and 8.4L/100km, 28 MPG on the highway. This Hybrid can tow up to 3500 pounds and Lexus offers a warranty of 4 years or 80,000 km/50,000 miles.
