he Hyundai Palisade (Korean: 현대 팰리세이드romanized: Hyeondae Paelliseideu) is a mid-size crossover SUV[5][1][2][3] manufactured by Hyundai Motor Company since late 2018. What the critics have to say…

The Palisade is Hyundai’s largest SUV, and the only one to offer three rows with seating for up to eight. Since its debut in 2020, the Palisade has been a hot seller, along with its mechanically identical twin, the Kia Telluride. Some of the Palisade’s chief competitors include the Honda Pilot, Subaru Ascent, and Mazda CX-9.

Motortrend

HOW DOES IT DRIVE?

What the Palisade lacks in all-out performance it more than makes up for with a competent and well-rounded skill set. Accelerating from a standstill to 60 mph takes 7.6 seconds, which is an average time for a three-row SUV. High-speed passing can be done with confidence. In our emergency braking tests, the Palisade demonstrated strong and predictable braking. In more routine driving, the brake pedal is easy to control for smooth stops.

Edmunds

IS IT RELIABLE AND HIGH QUALITY?

Is the Hyundai Palisade Reliable?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade has a predicted reliability score of 80 out of 100. A J.D. Power predicted reliability score of 91-100 is considered the Best, 81-90 is Great, 70-80 is Average, and 0-69 is Fair and considered below average.

Hyundai Palisade Warranty

Hyundai covers the Palisade with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty.

HOW COMFORTABLE IS IT?

Three-row SUVs aren’t always hauling around six or seven people, so there’s something to be said for having a little peace when it’s just you. The Palisade delivers — there’s minimal road and wind noise and the climate control system is quiet yet effective.

Edmunds

WHAT IS THE INTERIOR LIKE?

There’s room for up to eight passengers in the SE and SEL trims, seven in the Limited and Calligraphy, and there’s plenty of space in all three rows for their occupants. The second row features a one-touch button to move the seat forward for easy access to the third row. Noise from the road is suppressed; however, a large amount of wind noise penetrates the doors. With the second- and third-row seats folded, power operation is optional on the SEL and standard on Limited.

Car and Driver

WHAT IS THE TECHNOLOGY LIKE?

The Palisade is equipped with several collision avoidance and mitigation systems as well as adaptive cruise control that operates down to a stop. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity is also standard, and numerous USB ports are spread across all three rows (although only one can be used for phone connectivity). The wide infotainment screen looks sharp, and it comes with navigation that offers several useful features.

Edmunds

WHAT IS THE CARGO SPACE LIKE?

Cargo volume behind the front seats is 86 cubic feet, which fit 33 carry-on suitcases in our testing. With the second row in the upright position and the third row folded, stowage totals 46 cubic feet. With the third row in use, the volume shrinks to a modest 18 cubes. Underneath the load floor, there is plenty of room to store muddy or wet items. The cubbies in the doors are tight, but there is reasonable storage within and below the floating-bridge center console.

IS THIS VEHICLE A GOOD VALUE?

The Palisade, and its corporate sibling, the Kia Telluride, might be the best value in the class. Everything is top-notch, from the driving experience to the interior quality to the standard and optional features. Even the base model seems to give you a bit extra, and in the top trims you get a near-luxury experience. Overall, we are very impressed with the quality and feel of the Palisade. You also get Hyundai’s excellent 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance.

Edmunds

IS THE Hyundai Palisade A GOOD SUV?

Yes, the Hyundai Palisade is a good SUV. It comes with a V6 engine that provides ample power and solid acceleration. The Palisade also rides smoothly, even over rough pavement, and it’s pretty easy to drive despite its size. Its cabin is one of the nicest in the class, with upper trims rivaling some luxury SUVs. Adults can ride comfortably in all three rows, and there’s plenty of cargo space.

SHOULD I BUY THE Hyundai Palisade?

The Palisade is one of the top choices in the midsize SUV class, and it should appeal to a wide range of buyers. Its price tag is similar to many of its classmates’, which also helps to make it a strong value in the segment.

THE FINAL WORD

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is one of the best all-around midsize SUVs.  It’s not the most athletic SUV in the class, but it’s easy to drive, with plenty of power and a cushioned ride. It also provides plenty of space for people and cargo and has user-friendly features.
