Hyundai’s luxury brand made a splash in the sedan category and has now won SUV of the year from Motortrend in the SUV category. The GV70 is refined version (albeit smaller) of the GV80 with Macan vibes and luxury throughout.
- 2022 Volvo XC40- SCORE: 85
Few SUVs stuff as much value and utility into a small package like the 2021 Volvo XC40. It is a jack of all trades type of SUV, so if one aspect is your primary concern there is likely a better choice out there.

The 2022 Porsche Macan is one of the most expensive compact SUVs that you can buy. Few class rivals can match the Macan’s combination of interior quality and driving enjoyment.

The BMW X1 may not be the “ultimate driving machine” of BMW old, but it is an exquisite machine that does just about everything it should do well.
- 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class – SCORE: 81
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB is a solid all-around luxury compact SUV. It’s features match up well with all of its competitors and its below-average price tag makes it a good value.
- 2022 Audi Q3- SCORE: 80
The Audi Q3 presents many of the traits shoppers seek in small luxury vehicles. It’s comfortable, capable, and fuel-efficient. It more affordable than most cars in this class, yet it comes with a generous list of features, including Quattro all-wheel drive. It’s not agile and it’s not sporty, but overall, the Audi Q3 is an appealing choice.
- Acura RDX — SCORE: 80 (New)
The Acura may not be as luxurious as any of the SUVs ranked above it, but it still ranks in the Top 10. Honda’s luxury brand is reliable and a good value.
- Tesla Model Y — SCORE: 80
The Model Y is a hit or miss choice with some reviewers giving it high 80s marks and others giving it marks in the 60s.
- 2022 Lexus UX- SCORE: 77
The UX is a budget-friendly luxury SUV with plenty of standard safety and technology features.
- Jaguar F-Pace — SCORE: 76
- 2021 Jaguar E-Pace– SCORE: 75
No matter what you prioritize in a vehicle there will be a better choice in this segment. That said, the E-pace has its own style and feel, which may well be worth making it your own.
